Russia Endorses Trump’s Nobel Peace Prize Bid Ahead of Key Announcement

Date:

Russia has publicly expressed support for U.S. President Donald Trump’s nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize, just hours before the Norwegian Nobel Committee’s announcement. Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said Moscow appreciates Trump’s ongoing efforts to end the war in Ukraine and his push for global ceasefires.

The endorsement comes as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky indicated that Kyiv might also back Trump’s nomination if he successfully negotiates a lasting ceasefire in the conflict. Trump has recently intensified his campaign for the prize, touting his role in brokering ceasefires and peace talks, including a potential agreement between Israel and Hamas.

On social media, Trump’s son Eric encouraged supporters to rally behind the nomination, while the White House referred to Trump as “The Peace President.” In a speech on Friday, Trump highlighted his record in conflict resolution, claiming credit for ending “eight wars” and criticizing former President Barack Obama’s earlier Nobel award.

The final decision on the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize is expected soon, with Trump’s bid drawing both international attention and sharp political debate.
