Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused Russia of enlisting citizens from 47 different countries in its ongoing conflict with Ukraine, underscoring Moscow’s dependence on foreign fighters. Speaking at the United Nations, Zelensky highlighted the involvement of individuals from nations such as Ghana, Nepal, and India in the war, raising concerns about the expanding international dimension of Russia’s military campaign.
In a notable revelation, Zelensky mentioned that two North Korean soldiers captured while fighting for Russia have been transferred to South Korea. This disclosure comes amid growing military cooperation between Russia and North Korea, which Zelensky warned about during his address. The Ukrainian leader emphasized that Moscow continues to seek additional resources and manpower to bolster its efforts against Ukraine.
Ukraine is not standing idle in its defense strategy, as Zelensky announced the country’s efforts to enhance cooperation with international partners on drone technology. Kyiv has already secured agreements with Finland and Australia to advance this technology and is in the process of finalizing a similar agreement with Canada.
As winter approaches, Zelensky issued a stark warning that Ukraine might target Russian heating and energy facilities if Moscow persists in attacking Ukrainian infrastructure. This statement comes as the United States calls for both Russia and Ukraine to refrain from targeting each other’s energy infrastructure. Zelensky clarified that any strikes on Russian energy facilities by Ukraine are intended to disrupt war revenues rather than civilian energy supplies.
