Post-Truce Turmoil: Iran Denies Missile Fire, Israel Retaliates in Tehran

Date:

Post-truce turmoil has gripped the Middle East, with Iran denying missile fire even as Israel retaliates with strikes on Tehran. The conflicting accounts and continued violence highlight the immediate collapse of the ceasefire.

Despite Iran’s denial of post-ceasefire missile activity, air raid sirens blared in northern Israel, leading to Israeli military claims of an Iranian missile launch and the interception of two projectiles. This prompted Defense Minister Israel Katz to order a “forceful” response.

The US President had announced the ceasefire earlier on Tuesday, urging both parties to respect it. Both Israel and Iran had publicly accepted the truce, but the immediate allegations and counter-allegations underscore the fragility of the agreement and the challenges of its enforcement.

The conflict’s preceding hours were marked by intense exchanges, including Israel’s extensive airstrikes on Tehran and Iran’s missile attacks that caused casualties in Beersheba. The current situation suggests a high risk of renewed full-scale hostilities despite diplomatic efforts.
