South Korean President Lee to Meet U.S. Business Leader on Economic Cooperation

Date:

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung is set to meet Evan G. Greenberg, chair of the U.S.-Korea Business Council and CEO of Chubb Group, to discuss strengthening economic cooperation and trade relations between South Korea and the United States. The meeting, scheduled for Thursday afternoon, comes on the heels of a joint plenary session of the U.S.-Korea and Korea-U.S. Business Councils in Seoul earlier the same day.

The discussions are expected to focus on expanding economic ties and bolstering commercial cooperation between the two nations. The business councils, which involve major companies from both countries, aim to foster trade and investment opportunities. The South Korean council operates under the Federation of Korean Industries, playing a crucial role in facilitating dialogue and collaboration between U.S. and South Korean businesses.

During the meeting, President Lee is anticipated to encourage the U.S.-Korea Business Council to further engage in efforts to enhance the bilateral economic relationship. This initiative aligns with South Korea’s broader strategy to deepen ties with key economic partners, particularly in light of the shifting global economic landscape.

The outcomes of these discussions could have significant implications for trade policies and economic strategies between Seoul and Washington. As both nations navigate challenges in the global economy, the strengthening of their economic partnership is seen as a mutually beneficial step.

The meeting underscores the importance of continued dialogue and cooperation between the U.S. and South Korean business communities, as they seek to capitalize on existing opportunities and address shared economic challenges.
