Türkiye has expressed its readiness to facilitate a new round of peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, aiming to mediate a resolution to the ongoing conflict. This offer was reaffirmed by Kremlin foreign policy aide Yuri Ushakov, following interactions between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. Speaking in Kazan, Ushakov highlighted Türkiye’s willingness to provide a platform for dialogue, emphasizing the country’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to mediate peace.
Despite recent Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian soil, which have complicated prospects for direct talks between Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Türkiye continues to pursue its role as a mediator. Known for maintaining balanced relations since the conflict’s inception, Ankara previously hosted significant negotiations in Istanbul.
