Thailand clinched the bronze medal in women’s volleyball at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026, overpowering South Korea with a decisive 3-0 victory on Tuesday. The match took place at Park Arena Komaki, where Thailand dominated with set scores of 25-20, 25-19, and 25-23.
The triumph marks Thailand’s fourth consecutive Asian Games medal in women’s volleyball and their third bronze. South Korea started strong in the first set, initially leading the game, but Thailand quickly countered with effective attacks and serves, taking control midway and securing the set at 25-20.
The second set saw a competitive edge from both teams early on. South Korea managed to lead at 11-9 before Thailand’s strengthened attack tipped the scales, allowing them to win the set 25-19. In the third set, South Korea once again took an early lead; however, Thailand managed to level the score at 12-12. The two teams remained neck and neck until Thailand reached match point at 24-23, ultimately winning the set due to a South Korean error.
Thailand has consistently performed well in recent years, securing bronze in 2014, silver in 2018, and bronze again in 2022. This latest victory continues their streak of earning medals across four consecutive Asian Games. Additionally, their success at the 2026 Asian championship has ensured their qualification for the women’s volleyball tournament at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
