Russian President Vladimir Putin has conveyed his desire to meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi soon, as he welcomed External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar at the Kremlin during Jaishankar’s visit to Moscow. During their conversation, Putin asked Jaishankar to extend his best wishes to Modi, expressing hope that their next meeting might coincide with the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation’s events. Additionally, Putin is anticipated to travel to New Delhi for the BRICS leaders’ summit in September.
Highlighting the strengthening economic ties between Russia and India, Putin emphasized the increase in trade between the two nations. He noted that Moscow has been boosting its fertiliser supplies to India and expressed readiness to expand them further if needed.
Earlier in the visit, Jaishankar engaged in discussions with Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, focusing on enhancing bilateral trade and economic cooperation. Manturov mentioned that Russia is considering localizing nuclear fuel production in India as part of their cooperative efforts.
Throughout his visit, Jaishankar is also set to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Their discussions are expected to cover a range of topics, including bilateral relations and significant regional and global issues.
