Saudi Arabia and South Korea have pledged to deepen their collaboration in the fields of artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, and technology investments following a series of high-profile meetings in Seoul. The discussions aim to bolster innovation, enhance the digital economy, and support Saudi Arabia’s goal of becoming a global leader in artificial intelligence.
Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Abdullah Al-Swaha, alongside Haytham Al-Ohali, Governor of the Communications, Space and Technology Commission, engaged with senior South Korean officials to explore opportunities in AI, semiconductor technology, and digital infrastructure. These talks underscored the importance of fostering innovation and strengthening economic ties between the two nations.
The Saudi delegation also examined the potential for enhancing digital government services, which includes collaboration on unified government platforms, digital identity systems, and leveraging AI to improve public sector efficiencies. Discussions centered on the potential for cooperation between Saudi Arabia’s Digital Government Authority and South Korea’s Ministry of the Interior, pointing towards a future of increased digital collaboration.
In addition to government discussions, Al-Swaha met with the founder and CEO of APL Ventures to explore investment prospects, support for Saudi startups, and strategies to extend their reach into international markets. These conversations are part of a broader effort to attract technology investments into Saudi Arabia and to boost the Kingdom’s presence in the global tech landscape.
