In a bid to foster deeper collaboration in technology and innovation, South Korean President Lee Jae Myung recently engaged with leading venture capital firms in Silicon Valley. Emphasizing South Korea’s prowess in technology, manufacturing, and innovation, Lee advocated for stronger partnerships to propel the next wave of global tech companies. He underscored the attractiveness of South Korea as an investment hub, citing its advanced digital infrastructure, skilled workforce, and rapid execution capabilities.
President Lee assured potential investors of his administration’s commitment to supporting foreign experts through visa reforms. Additionally, he promised enhanced cooperation between businesses and research institutions, alongside increased funding for startups. These initiatives aim to solidify South Korea’s standing as a prime destination for technology investments.
During his visit, a significant step towards strengthening investment ties was made as South Korea’s National Pension Service inked a memorandum of understanding with six prominent US venture capital firms. This agreement is set to bolster investment collaborations and enhance connections with South Korea’s vibrant startup ecosystem.
The president’s itinerary also included meetings with overseas Koreans and key technology leaders, featuring high-profile executives from renowned companies such as Samsung, SK Group, Hyundai, Nvidia, OpenAI, Broadcom, and Anthropic. These discussions were part of a broader strategy to cultivate economic and strategic partnerships on a global scale.
Following his engagements in Silicon Valley, President Lee continued his international tour, heading to Brazil. This multi-nation journey reflects South Korea’s ambition to fortify its economic alliances and strategic partnerships worldwide.
